text based lessons and instructions documents and downloadable resources embedded videos resource links assignments tests evaluations students can access course content directly through the student portal, where they can work through learning materials, complete activities and assessments, and track their progress because course content is built directly into ampeducator, it works alongside the student progress the engagement period and engagement idle settings can be used to track how students engage with course content these settings are covered in more detail in the next section the same page also provides an overview of student progress across the course content configuring content engagement tracking when course content is enabled, you can configure how ampeducator tracks the time students spend actively engaging with their course content the engagement period determines how frequently a student's engagement with course content is recorded the default is 5 minutes the engagement idle setting determines how many minutes can pass without activity before the student is considered idle the default is 15 minutes when a student reaches the configured engagement idle period without interacting with the course, ampeducator will stop recording that time as active engagement this prevents engagement time from continuing to accumulate when, for example, a student leaves course content open but is no longer actively working in it the student will be prompted to confirm that they are still there once they return and confirm that they are active, engagement tracking can resume this helps ensure that the engagement time recorded for the student more accurately reflects the time they are actively interacting with course content getting started with the
