Cancelling and Restoring Courses
courses may need to be cancelled for a variety of reasons—such as low enrollment, scheduling changes, instructor availability, or program adjustments this section covers how to cancel and restore a course, what happens to student enrollments, and how to set up notifications for students and instructors cancelling a course if a course is no longer running as planned, you can cancel it at any time this might happen if not enough students enroll or if the instructor becomes unavailable cancelling a course removes it from the active list and updates its status to cancelled , without deleting the course or its history to cancel a course, go to home / courses , locate the course in the list, and click the cancel course (x) icon in the far right column when you click the x , a cancel course modal will appear here, you’ll be able to review the course details view basic information such as course name, session, and dates select a cancellation reason choose from a dropdown list of reasons for cancelling the course you can configure and manage these reasons under course cancellation reasons docid\ wztrffv45cult6kbclibq choose a student fees action decide whether to delete any charges or fees that may have been automatically applied to students during enrollment add notes optionally include internal notes if necessary restoring a cancelled course if a course has been cancelled but needs to run after all, you can restore it restoring a course reactivates it and updates student statuses automatically, so you don’t have to re enroll students manually to restore a cancelled course, go to home / courses it’s easiest to either filter by course status cancelled or search for the course name once you’ve located the course, click the restore course icon in the far right column clicking the icon opens the restore course modal, where you can review the course details and add any optional notes click restore course to confirm when restored students who were previously enrolled will be re enrolled students who had withdrawn will be marked as withdrawn note this automatic student status reinstatement only applies to courses cancelled after march 2025 older cancelled courses will not restore student statuses also, some items such as future collaborations or student fees may need to be added again manually notifications for cancelled and restored courses you can choose to notify students and instructors automatically when a course is either cancelled or restored these notifications are managed from the details tab of the course and allow you to assign a template to each group student notifications include status changes like enrolled, withdrawn, cancelled, and restored instructor notifications include course level updates such as when the course is activated, cancelled, restored, or when an instructor is added or removed you can select multiple notification templates for each role to ensure that both students and instructors receive all relevant updates
