Starting New Courses
when starting a new course in ampeducator, you have two options use a course template create new course both options begin from the same screen, which you can access by clicking the green start new course button at the top of the courses page from there, you’ll choose whether to use a template or build the course from scratch using a course template is the recommended approach—especially if the course will be offered again in the future templates allow you to reuse lms content, grading setup, announcements, and schedules, saving time and maintaining consistency across terms even if a template hasn’t been created yet, it’s best to set one up first by going to home / course templates overview docid\ kjxsrunwptpiuaf3vykbk once your template is ready, you can use it to start a new course quickly and efficiently creating a new course (from scratch) is available, but should generally be reserved for truly one off courses if you go this route, you’ll need to configure all the course details manually more importantly, the course will not be saved as a reusable template—so it won’t appear in your course templates list the next time you offer it using a course template is highly recommended if you plan to offer the same course again in the future it saves time by reusing course content, grading setups, and lms configuration starting a new course from a template when you leave the create new course box unchecked , you’ll see the following options select course template – choose from your preconfigured creating new course templates docid\ aooqkglaftgkj2otdh0ni section – identify the section for the course location – choose where the course is offered external course provider – choose if you’re syncing with moodle, brightspace, or canvas continuous enrollment – select if the course has ongoing enrollment academic session – choose the session open ended – if selected, no end date is required start date / end date – set the official course duration add course events – check this if you'd like events (like class times) to be added immediately once you’ve completed the fields, click start new course to create the course based on your selected template the course will then appear in your courses list creating and customizing new courses if you check the create new course box, the form will update to display additional fields for manual entry you’ll need to input the following course code and course name – required section – course section identifier location – where the course will be held external course provider – select if syncing with moodle, brightspace, or canvas add course grades – check if you'd like to include a grading schema add course schedule – check to begin scheduling the course immediately continuous enrollment – select if students can join at any time academic session – required open ended – check if the course has no official end date start date / end date – set the timeline add course events – check if you want to immediately add events once you’ve filled everything out, click start new course the course will appear in your courses list to begin customizing it, you can either click on the course name or use the edit course icon next to it this will open the course profile, where you can set up grading, lms content, announcements, fees, schedule, and more starting multiple courses simultaneously to start multiple courses at once, go to courses / more actions / start multiple courses this option requires that you have course templates set up for the courses you'd like to add simultaneously when you select the ' quick start ' type, you can choose multiple course templates that are for the same location and sections you’ll simply need to select the academic session, and the same start and end dates will apply to all chosen templates if you're adding multiple courses across different locations or sections, choose the ' custom start ' type you can select various templates, specify different locations, sections, and other criteria for each course
