Attendance

The Attendance tab in ampEducator provides an organized way to manage and track student attendance for your course. It gives instructors an overview of each student’s attendance status, including absences, lates, and total hours completed. You can also configure and customize attendance events, track penalties, and generate detailed attendance reports.

Here are the key features:

  • Attendance Overview: The Attendance tab gives a summary of each Student’s attendance, showing details such as their absences, lates, and total hours attended. You can quickly view the attendance status for the entire class, helping you monitor student participation.
  • Taking Attendance: Attendance is recorded through the "Attendance Events" you configure in the Course Details. To mark attendance for a session, simply click on the attendance date. Then, use the Present, Late, or Absent icons to record each Student's status. If necessary, you can apply attendance penalties for issues like leaving early or not participating.
  • Tracking Attendance Penalties: If your institution requires tracking attendance penalties (e.g., for tardiness, leaving early, or lack of participation), you can easily apply them by clicking the "Penalty" button after marking the Student as Late or Absent. This helps ensure attendance records are comprehensive and aligned with institutional policies.
  • Viewing Detailed Attendance Information: For a more detailed breakdown, click on the "View Attendance Details" icon next to any Student's name. This shows individual attendance events and any penalties applied, along with a section to add notes for each event, if needed.
  • Make-Up Attendance: If a Student missed an event but needs to make it up, you can manually add make-up attendance by clicking on the "Add Make Up Attendance" button. This lets you input the necessary details and update attendance records accordingly.
  • Attendance Totals: The Attendance Totals section shows a cumulative view of a Student’s attendance, including the total number of classes attended, missed, and late, as well as the total hours completed. You can manually adjust these totals using the "Override Attendance" option, if needed, by providing a reason for the adjustment.
  • Generating Attendance Reports: To generate an attendance report, go to the "More Actions" dropdown menu and select "Generate Attendance Report." You can customize the fields, select the format (PDF, CSV, or XML), and save the report to your computer for record-keeping or further analysis.
