ampeducator can automatically track students whose academic performance is marginal or falls below a specified threshold these thresholds are divided into three sections program, session, and cumulative, each with its own criteria for determining academic status any academic performance between the marginal threshold and the main threshold is considered marginal, while anything below the marginal threshold is flagged for review if holds are enabled, students in the review status will have a hold placed on their account to configure these settings, navigate to institution config / students / academic student academic performance fields academic threshold type – select whether academic performance is measured by percentage average or grade point program threshold – the minimum performance level considered good for a program (e g , 70% or equivalent gpa) program marginal – the performance level at which a student is considered marginal in a program (e g , 60 69% or equivalent gpa) anything below this value is flagged for review session threshold – the minimum performance level considered good for an academic session (e g , 70%) session marginal – the performance level at which a student is considered marginal in a session (e g , 60 69%) anything below this value is flagged for review cumulative threshold – the minimum performance level considered good across all sessions and programs (e g , 70%) cumulative marginal – the performance level at which a student is considered marginal based on cumulative performance (e g , 60 69%) anything below this value is flagged for review add hold – select yes to automatically apply a hold on a student's account when their academic status changes to review when yes is selected, an additional dropdown menu will appear where you can choose the type of hold generate daily report – select yes to enable automatic daily reports for students flagged as marginal or review if enabled, two additional dropdown fields will appear student stati – select which student statuses (active, graduated, inactive, pending) should be included in the report send report to – choose from a list of your staff members who should receive the daily report email student – select yes to send email notifications to students when their academic status changes student academic status the student academic status feature allows you to monitor and flag students whose academic performance is below your institution’s expectations you can define thresholds for when a student’s performance should be marked as marginal or require review , helping staff stay on top of academic risk and intervene early when needed configuring student status thresholds to configure this feature, go to institution config / students / academic use the academic threshold type dropdown to select either percentage or grade point as your measurement method you’ll see fields for setting thresholds across three areas program session cumulative for each, enter a threshold (what is considered good standing) and a marginal threshold (when to flag a student as at risk) students scoring between the two will be flagged as marginal , while those falling below the marginal value will be flagged as review for example, if your program threshold is set to 2 5 and the marginal threshold is 2 0, a student with a gpa of 2 3 would be marked as marginal, while one with a 1 9 would be marked as review once all values and options have been configured, click apply to programs / sessions , then click save to finalize your setup adding academic holds automatically if you want to apply a hold when a student’s academic status is set to review , check the add hold box then choose the appropriate hold type from the dropdown list hold types and student’s account if their academic status changes to review based on the thresholds you’ve configured enabling reports and notifications you can set up daily reporting and notifications using the intervals video walkthrough student academic status student distinctions student distinctions allow you to recognize academic achievement by awarding specific titles based on overall, session, or program results these distinctions can be customized using either a gpa or percentage scale and grouped into categories that make sense for your institution, such as academic excellence , merit , or dean’s list once configured, distinctions can appear on transcripts and provide formal recognition of student performance distinctions are managed in two parts distinction groups – categories that define the scale (gpa or percentage) and house your distinction levels distinctions – individual levels (e g honours , high honours ) with set thresholds for automatic assignment creating student distinctions to set up distinctions, you'll start by creating a distinction group and then add the specific distinction levels within that group each group uses either a gpa or percentage scale and includes individual distinctions with minimum thresholds that determine eligibility click the green new distinction group button to get started a pop up modal will appear where you can name the group and select the scale used to measure performance once you click add , the group will appear in the list you can then use the + icon beside the group to start adding specific distinctions with thresholds a second modal will appear where you can enter the distinction name (such as high honours or honours ) and the threshold required to achieve it you can continue to add multiple distinctions within a group, each with its own name and threshold based on the selected scale to view the list of distinctions under a group, click the expansion (+) icon to the left of the group name distinctions can also be edited or removed at any time using the edit or delete icons once configured, student distinctions can be used to recognize academic achievement and may appear on transcripts depending on your institution’s setup
