The **Academic Sessions **section displays all sessions a student has been or is currently enrolled in. It provides a summary of academic and attendance performance for each session, along with a cumulative total across all sessions to show overall progress.

Each session row includes key information such as:

- **Session** – The name of the academic session (e.g., *Fall 2025*).
- **Status** – Indicates whether the session is *Active* or *Completed*.
- **CA / CE** – Credits Attempted and Credits Earned.
- **CR %** – Completion Rate.
- **% / LG** – Average grade percentage and letter grade.
- **Academic** – Displays the student’s academic standing (*Good*, *Marginal*, or *Review*).
- **Distinction** – Shows any special honors or distinctions earned.
- **Attendance** – Displays the student’s attendance standing (*Good*, *Marginal*, or *Review*).
- **Course Hrs, At %, L, A** – Show total course hours, attendance percentage, lates, and absences.

The **current session** is highlighted in green for clarity.

A **Cumulative** row at the bottom combines totals across all sessions to give a complete view of a student’s academic history.

## Adding a New Academic Session

To add a new session for a student, click **Add Session**. A modal window will appear where you can enter the required information.

- **Academic Session** – Select from available sessions configured in *Institution Config / Academic Sessions*.
- **Registration Date** – Enter the date the student is being registered for the session.
- **Charge Fees** – Choose the applicable fee option.
- **Notes** – Optionally include any comments or administrative details.

Once complete, click **Add Session** to save.

The **current session** is automatically based on the one defined in *Institution Config / Academic Sessions*. You can no longer manually assign a student to a different session, as this ensures consistency across the institution’s academic calendar.

## Quick Actions

Each session row includes action icons on the right that let you quickly view, update, or remove a session.

### View Session

Click the **View Session** (magnifying glass) icon to open the **Student Academic Session** window. This displays a detailed summary of the student’s academic and attendance information for that specific session.

The modal is divided into three sections:

- **Session Details** – Displays the student name, session name, registration information, and the staff member who registered the student.
- **Session Academics** – Includes credits attempted and earned, completion rate, percentage average, letter grade, distinction, and academic status.
- **Session Attendance** – Shows total hours completed and missed, attendance percentage, absences, lates, attendance status, and update information (source, date, and user).
 - The **Status Policy** box summarizes the attendance thresholds, marginal and review course limits, and how averages are weighted.

This view allows you to quickly review both academic and attendance performance for the session in one place.

### Refresh Session Totals

Click the **Refresh Session Totals** (calculator) icon to recalculate the student’s academic and attendance totals for the session. This updates all session data based on the most recent course grades, attendance, and other changes, ensuring the totals are current and accurate.

### Delete Session

Click the **Delete Session** (X) icon to remove a session from the student’s record. A session can only be deleted if there are no associated records (such as courses or program starts). If a session is linked to courses, those course records must first be **deleted** — withdrawing the student does not allow session deletion.
